Does ShadowDM send my Instagram DMs automatically?
No. ShadowDM only drafts a reply into Instagram's message box. You read it, edit a word if you want, and press Instagram's own Send button yourself. There is no code path in the extension that clicks Send — nothing leaves your account without your tap.
Will using ShadowDM get my account banned?
ShadowDM is built to avoid the automation patterns Meta flags. It runs inside your own logged-in Instagram session, reads only the single thread you have open and only when you ask, and never auto-sends or bulk-messages. Because you manually press Send on every reply, your account behaves just like it would if you typed each message yourself.
Do I need the Meta API or a developer account?
No. ShadowDM doesn't use the Meta Graph API and never asks for your Instagram password. It works inside the Instagram tab you're already logged into — no API setup, no app review, no developer account.
How is this different from a chatbot or auto-reply tool?
Most DM bots send messages for you — which means they can send something wrong to a customer without you ever seeing it. ShadowDM only writes the draft in your voice and leaves the Send button to you. You stay fast without handing a stranger the keys to your inbox.
